: 1884-1918y 4m 18d, Lorain county Ohio, Ernest had come to Florida in 1917 with a friend and decided he wanted to live there. He came back in 1918 and was given either 20 or 40 acres to homestead just west of the town of Boynton. The family moved from Ohio to Florida but kept their home in Elyria as the family moved back and forth between the two homes over the next ten years. The children attended school in both places.
