General

Ancestry.com family of Newell Sidney Moore and Maveratte Ann Miller and their eleven children. The names of his parents are also given.

According to her grandson Cluett Searls, Maverette ran her home like an army sergeant -- very strict, with lots of rules. The family had a large five-bedroom house and it had the city's first indoor plumbing, with a tub and toilet. Maverette always kept a neat home and she always had lots of good things to eat when he visited her home. Her home had a pot-bellied stove in most every room and the kitchen had a large range and a big pantry. She had sheds in the backyard for storing wood and coal, a wash house for doing the laundry and making soap, and a barn for raising horses. Cluett said it seemed like Maverette was always wiping the sweat from her forehead with her apron. He also said that one of her favorite quotes to say to the visiting family members was: "I'm always glad to see you come and I'm always mighty glad to see you go". Maverette had a beautiful walnut organ trimmed in ivory. Cluett also remembers that Maverette had many nice things sitting around in her home.
