GOALS: Visit two national parks (one repeat) and one town, all near the east central border of the state.
Tuskegee Airman and Tuskegee Institute National Parks are near the town of Tuskegee. I was at Institute some
years ago but was there before the place was open for the day.
I had never before driven in the southeastern part of the state. Plus, back in my latter college days, where
I took some architecture classes, I had this Great Idea of building of what I called "Super City". It was a
town made up of several large buildings in a sort of pyramid shape to allow sunshine to reach windows more
easily. The town had no roads except in the perimeter where the farm land were. The location I picked for this
Super City was near Dothan. Nearly 50 years later, I thought I would finally visit the area.
However, thank to my Garmin GPS being quite confused, and stubborn, I spent almost an hour driving around
Columbus, Georgia, trying to find a route to Tuskegee. It was a long day that started at 2:00 am and I was
behind schedule, so Alabama got skipped.
