Boston has been my #1 favorite city since I first came to town in 1986. It has so much history -- nearly 400 years -- and
is compact geographically. And, it is where many of my ancestors came to or through in the 1600's and 1700's.
In May, the intent was to photo the campus signs of four colleges, all near each other basically along the same latitude.
Boston College, Boston University, Northeastern University and Emerson College. However, unknownst
to me before arriving, it was graduation week (thus, thousands of extra vehicles)
and it was raining. I was able to photograph at Boston College. However, traffic
was so bad and the rain got harder that after half an hour trying to get two miles,
I gave up knowing that I will return this summer to photograph the other campuses.
I did return in July and photographed the other campuses. I also spent 96 nights
at a place called Hotel 140 located at 140 Clarendon St. It is just three and a half
blocks from the New England Historic Genealogical Society that was founded in 1845.
I spent much of my Boston time at this place researching my family history. I first
joined as a member in 1986 but the last time I was in NEHGS was in 2000. Much had
changed since then yet much was the same.
The more time I spent driving around Boston, the more I am disliking the town. I is nearly as
bad as my #1 LEAST favorite town of Santa Fe.
