I was at this park almost exactly one year ago. Then it was called the Indiana Dunes National Seashore. And, it was raining hard with a thunderstorm going. Got to return here this year.

The park is rather difficult to figure out what is the national park, what is the state park and what is private property. There are sevral hiking trails with some very nice wooden walking bridges over the busy highways. People have their homes very near the lake edge and sand dunes edge. After miuch driving around, I was able to find a spot where I could walk to the lake shore.

The visitor center is nice and the rangers are, as usual, very helpful. They LOVE to tell the stories of their park. It is as if the park personally belongs to them!
