On the March trip I completed photographing all of the colleges and universities in the
state that I intend to photograph -- except Evangel in Springfield. Interstingly,
my first stop of about 50 stops on this trip was to one of the two Missouri colleges
and my last stop on the trip was to photograph the other. Big loop.
Highway 63 from the Arkansas border to Cabool is well designed for a "two-lane" highway.
They keep alternating for a couple of miles between northbound and southbound having a
passing lane. Very nice. North of Rolla could use the same treatment for the same highway.
For a bit over 20 miles dozens of us were stuck behind some van that decided to drive from
10 to 15 miles below the speed limit. Then, once I got past him, I was behind two semi-trucks
the rest of the way to Jefferson City and highway 50.
On the May trip Missouri was just a pass-thru state. One college campus sign in the state
-- Evangel College in Springfield -- have all been photographed.
On the August trip Missouri had two stops. And, just like the March trip, those stops were
the first and last stops on this trip. I have long wanted to visit Ste. Genevieve.
On the way back, I stopped again at the Ulysses Grant Farm south of St. Louis. When I went
there last year, there was a very long line of cars just trying to get into the place so I
skipped it for another day.
