I had never heard of this place until I started looking at what national park sites were near my route.
Thus, this place goes towards my new goal of visiting 150 national park sites. This one makes #122.
Early plans for visiting this place included photographing it at the southern end of the lake which
is by the Alibates Flint Quarries National Monument, and, staying until sunset and photograph it over
the lake. Good thing I changed those plans because when I got to Alibates, I saw that the lake had
totally dried up at the shallower southern end.
The actual headquarters for the lake is on the north side of Broadway (next door to the credit union)
in the town of Fritch. That is because they provide permits for people to put their boats in the water
and/or fish. But since the lake is hardly a lake, no charges/fees are assessed for the north end of
the lake.
