One of my more recent goals during traveling is to photograph the sign at all of the major
U.S. colleges and universities. That is around 250 of them. To get all of them in a 300-mile
radius of Kansas City, several weekend trips were taken. This is to record the results of
those weekend trips with the colleges in Indiana.
Indiana has several major universities. It takes two different trips to cover them all.
For the October trip I covered all but the two in South Bend(for a future trip). A couple of
signs I thought were there must have been removed.
The drive from Terre Haute towards Bloomington along highway 46 was beautiful. Quite colorful
trees. Well-kept homes, some with small lakes (big ponds?) by them. I later mentioned this to
Indiana-native Cathywho said Brown County is well known for fall colors and has many tourists
every year. ACtually, when I looked it up later, Brown County is east of Bloomington. Whereas
I was in the counties of Vigo, Clay and Owen.
Also, while driving north of Lafayette along I-64, just as I get into White County I see
hundreds and hundreds of wind mills. Someone (cannot remember who) recently asked me where I
have seen the most windmills in one place because he had just seen hundreds at some location
he had recently been to and figured since I was both a traveler and a statistician that I would
know such things as where in the U.S is the biggest concentration of windmills. I need to
remember who it was that asked me this question so I can now respond "White County Indiana".
