This place is at the southern tip of the peninsula on which Delaware sits as well as small parts
of Virginia and Maryland. I booked a bed and breakfast place here in a room with a view of the
water. And, I was hoping for a beautiful sunrise to see and photograph. I had coordinates for the
seemingly best place to get those photos. However, Mother Nature and her daughter, Tropical Storm
Julia, had different plans. They dumped several inches of rain for two days. Thus, I cancelled
driving the what should have been five hours from Newark DE since it would have taken twice that
long because of the slowness driving through heavy rain. And, it would have been too cloudy for
photos anyway. Unfortunately, the place has a 48-hour cancellation policy. The owner, Mike, was
super nice plus felt a bit guilty about charging me in the situation so he took off $50.
RECOMMENDATION:
If going to be in the area, make a reservation for the Lighthouse Room. It has a balcony that
overlooks the bay. But make the reservation at least six months in advance because it is a
popular room among those who stay here multiple times. See The Baywood Website
