This was a bonus visit after learning that Grand Staircase Escalante is not a national park but
part of the Bureau of Land Management. Things make more sense now because before the trip I
was having a hard time finding anything specific to see in Grand Staircase.
I got to this park a half hour before sunrise after driving two hours without seeing a single
vehicle going my way. The park is nice. Newly resurfaced "loop" road that is a one-way drive
going counterclockwise. There were many pull-over places and a few picnic areas too (no
camping in this park). However, I never did see any of the three natural bridges despite one of
them saying it was there. I am guessing that one must hike into the park to see the bridges.
Oh well. Lots of other nice scenery there,
