I was in Princeton a few years earlier, at that time to photograph the university as well as
the (now private) home of President James Buchannan. I later learned that neither of the two
houses I photographed then (it was confusing which one was right) was Buchannan's home. So I
came back to photograph the correct house. And since I was here before I also learned that
President Wilson lived in the main house on campus when he was president of the university.
Thus, I needed to photograph that house, also for my collection of photographs of all homes
and libraries and museums of all U.S. Presidents.
I drive into town and am immediately captivated by the look and feel of this town. The town
itself has many beautiful old large homes nestled among the trees and bushes along tree-lined
streets. And the campus buildings are absolutely gorgeous -- that old-style architecture. And
The Prospect House where the university president lives -- at least Woodrow Wilson lived there
when he was university president, is a large mansion secluded from the rest of the campus by
large trees and spectacular gardens. Wow! It would be fun to live in this town.
