I came here to see the Assateague Island National Seashore which counts as another facility of
the National Park Service. For me, it is national park #111. I expected beautiful scenery here.
In reality, two days earlier I saw Assateague at the southern end at Chincoteague VA instead of the northern end
at Ocean City MD. Good thing too because just as I got to Ocean City -- guess what -- it started
raining again, and that was not in the forecast!
Then it took me 20 minutes to actually "get out of town" along highway 1. Why? Because this narrow
yet very long strip of land is built up with numerous hotels and other businesses. Thus, there is
a traffic light every half mile, all designed to turn red just as the previous one turned green.
