Since I was already heading to Florida, I decided to fly into Atlanta and visit
several places in Georgia. On my route back from Florida through Athens and on
to Atlanta, I noticed I would be fairly close to Augusta. So two reasons to
swing through this town. One, hoping to be able to photograph the famous
Augusta National Golf Course. And, two, Augusta is in the top 100 largest cities
in the U.S. and I am working on visiting all of them. This one makes #93 of the 100.
I tried to get photos of the Augusta golf course. However, they have strategically
grown a very deep and thick set of trees and shrubs and such to totally block any
view of the course. I managed to walk up to one gate and snap a few photos including
one of some very distant people practicing on the driving range. I also got a couple
of shots where they have heavy construction equipment at work re-doing some section
of the course. Certainly did not look like a golf course!
I really disliked both the street traffic system flow and the TONS of traffic in this
city. This town would certainly not make my list of potential retirement towns.
