I wanted to see the Adirondack History Center here. However, it was still closed for the
winter. I went by it and saw that it is in the old high school building. An interesting
looking stone church was next door. The town is rather cute and the city hall building
has stained glass windows in the front wall of the building. Mountains surround the town.
What was really great is that while on the trip I learned about the Split Rock Falls that
are about seven miles south of town on highway 9. They are easily visible from the pulloff
along the highway's eastern side of the road. People had (fortunately) smashed down the
fences there so as to get a much better view of the falls. I had the place to myself and
made a mini-movie on my camera of the powerful sound of the falling water.
