This town is built around the Lincoln farm that was owned and run by the parents of
Abraham Lincoln. His father Thomas moved the family to this place from northwest
Kentucky when Abe was age 7 because of the difficulties of owning land in Kentucky.
It was while here that Abe lost his mother to an illness plus he gained much of the
building blocks that would make him the adult that he became. He was exposed to reading
and the law and even won his first court case while representing himself in a law suit.
The visitor center and museum and farm are part of the national park system. This was
my 105th park site to visit. The museum and grounds are quite impressive and worth visiting.
A mile walk around the farm area allows the visitor to see the farm and the animals that live
there today.
