Two reasons to visit here. One, I have heard much about it over the years, all good. The
Kansas City Royals have often had winter training here. And two, I have two good friends
(they are not related) whose last name is Myers. One of them I texted a greeting from
Ft. Myers.
I wanted to visit Pine Island. It is quite a drive west to get to it from Ft. Myers.
While driving there I encountered the 200+ traffic lights (all lights in western and
southern Florida are desiged to turn red ten seconds after the one before it turns
green). Plus, along the way, I was trailing at least 20 school busses full of kids
who may have been headed to Pine Island. And, it was a totally cloudy day and it was
raining intermittently. So I decided to skip it. After crossing the Caloosahatchee
River (for the second time, I back tracked because I missed the turnoff for Pine Island)
I found a spot among fancy homes on the shoreline and quickly snapped a couple of photos
trying to keep my camera dry as possible.
