In 2004 I came within half an hour of this recreational area but decided I had too much driving the rest of the day to spend another couple of hours. Told myself I would return again someday. Made it this trip, it was actually my second stop (after Cheyenne) on this trip. I had looked at the Google satellite map of this area since it has an east-side highway and a west-side highway. It appeared that the east-side would be more scenic. So I drove south on highway 191 as opposed to highway 530 on the west side.
