First time to Princeton. One reason to stop is to see yet another major U.S. university,
Additionally, President Cleveland had his home here although it is privately owned now.
Also, President Wilson (what a great last name!) was president of the university here.
Princeton looks just like what I would expect for a small Ivy League school town to look
like. Sort of like Hanover NH with Dartmouth looked two years ago. Everything seems well
kept. Large trees hang over many streets forming a canopy. Students on bikes and foot
everywhere. Modern-looking fashionable shops everywhere. What was missing are all the
fast food places like McDonalds and Wendys. That was a surprise. They are all many miles
away.
The campus looks great. Washington Street is basically its southern boundary. It is
also tree-canopied and well-groomed on the sides. The buildings look incredibly well
kept. Old buildings mixed in with new buildings. No parking lots, just parking meters.
I work with someone who attended college here. He said they were so busy with school
(at least he was) that he never knew that President Cleveland had a house there until
I asked about it.
President Cleveland's house (at 12 Hodge Street) is a privately-owned house. It is barely
visible from the street. Initially, I mistook the neighboring house as his because it was
bigger, more prominently in the open, and being refurbished (scaffolding was erected). So
I am not even 100% certain that I photographed the correct house. Forgive me Grover.
