I have long wanted to visit this city. For one, to take a photo of the state capitol building.
But also because I have long heard that it is a pretty nice place to live. As long as one can
stand hard winters and hot summers and live in an area dominated by the oil and gas industry,
it probably is a good place. Hunters and fishermen and other outdoor enthusiasts would certainly
love the area. And, it is very close to Canada.
I was only briefly in town and only in the central section of town (exit 159) where the capitol
is located. The grounds around the capitol were beautifully done with a huge grassy area in
front of the building. The building itself is very tall (similar to the one in Lincoln NE) vs.
the usual 3 - 5 stories with the large dome. And I could not get it all in the same photograph
(I would need to be about 100 feet above ground) but a large flower bed used different colored
flowers to spell out "North Dakota". Check out the photos though and see if you can make that out.
