Boston is my #1 favorite U.S. city. This is my 8th time here, all for fun. There is so much U.S. history
here, much of it playing a role in the formation of the U.S. There is so much to see and do in the area.
And, because of the numerous ancestors of mine who lived in or near Boston, the city draws me to it via
a connection to my roots.
If I could, I wouild love to live in Boston for at least five years. That would give me plenty of time
to further research my family history here. I have belonged to the New England Historic Genealogical
Society (NEHGS) since 1986. That non-profit organization always has top-notch programs and staff.
Since NEHGS was closed the day I was in town (Sunday plus they are closed on Mondays too), this was a
quick visit. Just a couple of goals in mind. One, I try to take a photograph of all of the U.S. state
capitol buildings. Boston is the capital of Massachusetts. Two, the Boson Common area is always
pleasant and relaxing when the weather is cooperative.
As expectd, there were many people walking, sitting or biking in the Boston Common. It was a bit
warm but reasonable enough to bring out the people.
I had planned to take the Boston T (the subway) but since it was a Sunday and Boston's is easy to
get around in, I figured parking downtown would be easy. So I drove it all. That also saved me several
hours plus I came in several hours earlier than the original plan. So, half a day ahead of schedule
when I left town.
