Driving to Concord was the longest drive of the week. And the first third of it was in a hard rain.
We got to the building of the New Hampshire History Museum only to find the parking lot blocked
off by people with grills. After parking at a meter on Main Street, we walked to the building front door
to find the museum locked, closed on Mondays. Arriving at the door at the same time we got there
was a local gentleman who was also surprised that the building was closed. He said that his wife is on
the state legislature and started telling us about the state capitol building across the street. He said
that things in New Hampshire are quite informal and that we could even stop by the governor's office and
if he was there and not in a meeting that we could say hello. He also showed us the statue of
the eagle tree which gave the name for the street where the museum is located.
We took some photos of the
state capitol building then began looking for a place to eat lunch. While walkling up and down the
downtown sidewalks we noticed that a lot of New Hampshirites (?) are smokers. While driving this week
we have noticed that New Hampshirites also honk a lot. We ate lunch at a local place called "Bakery Cafe".
Good sandwiches. Great viewing area to watch the people walking up and down Main Street.
