For a short visit to Seattle, there was not really much I wanted to do or see. Of course, I had to see Puget Sound as we in the Midwest have nothing like that (well, or the mountains, for that matter too). And, I had arranged to meet up with a long-time friend, a veterinarian. It was fun to catch up.

While I was admiring the view of Puget Sound, I spotted a resident on his deck. The gentleman was probably in his sixties. He said he had lived all his life in Seattle and in his current home (facing Puget Sound) for thirty years. I asked him if seeing the Sound had grown to a point of ignoring it after three decades. He said No, that he looks at it every day because there is something different every day. He will watch large ships prepare to go to Alaska or the recreational boaters. Of course, the famous mostly rainy Seattle weather makes the sky and sound change. Also, there are railroad tracks between his home and the sound.

Seattle is a busy city, as expected. The downtown has people walking up and down all of the sidewalks. Not quite as many sidewalkers as San Francisco, but many. Apparently all big cities of the west coast have rush hour traffic all day long. This is true in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland and now Seattle.

I met up with a friend of many years that lives in Seattle. She and her partner (whom I had never met) already had tickets to the "rodrigo y gabriela" concert at the Moore Theater downtown. So I also got a ticket and watch this two-guitar act of high energy and incredibly fast fingers. I was amazed at the sounds they were able to make with an electic guitar. I would imagine that even Roy Clark would have a good challenge at keeping up with these two performers.
