This park is just a two-hour or so drive from Seattle. Like Mt. Rainier National Park, there was no one
at an entrance gate asking for a park fee. I was expecting to see area after area of waterfalls or
streams of fast-moving water over large rocks. In reality, I saw lots of mountains and trees and only a
few waterfalls. All but the largest streams seemed mostly dry. A few very small streams were easily
visible.
On the drive through the park, at times I gasped at a site just around a bend. Sometimes, an area was
so large of a valley with gigantic mountains surrounding it that it makes humans seem so small.
Water flow in the park over the millennia have carved very deep gorges -- hundreds of feet deep
(the pictures do not show the depth).
Power lines and their accompanying towers were everywhere too as this park provides much electrical
power to the region.
