Missoula is one of the largest towns in western Montana. It is the home of the University of Montana.
There is a large "M" on the side of one mountain adjacent to the campus. Because the temperatures were so
warm today (mid 80's in mid-September), the students were dressed in summer clothing and were out jogging,
biking, walking or sunning.
The University of Montana mascot is The Grizzlies. Thus, that is what they named their stadium which is the
major portion of the campus.
Although mountains cover most of western Montana, there are few trees on them. The mountains seem barren, almost
(but not quite), like the mountains of central Arizona. Thus, I would say that much of western Montana is not a
very beautiful area.
The drive from Spokane to Missoula took about four hours (not counting stops). There were some delays because
of road construction in several places. The drive reminded me of driving through parts of New Mexico.
