Madison (pop. 2,800) is about 35 miles, as the crow flies, due north of Augusta. It is one of the larger towns in the area in terms of population.
What attracted our attention to this town is the recently-built 24-acres greenhouse. When we looked at the area on the Google Earth satellite maps, the greenhouse was not yet built. Unfortunately, when we were there on a Sunday afternoon, the place was closed.
We drove to this town from the north on higways 16 and 146. We went through the towns of New Portland and North New Portland and North Anson. The two towns of Portland looked like a poor area. Anson was a smelly area.
