Jackman (pop. 800) is in the extreme northwest part of Maine just a few miles from the Canadian border on highway 201. The area is made up of mountains and trees. Only the one main highway runs through it north-south and one going east.

Along the route to Jackman we saw scattered patches of snow. These patches were in the shaded lower lying areas.

There are several towns along 85-mile stretch of Highway 201 between the I-95 exit #133 and Jackman. Towns are:

• Hinckley
• Skowhegan (pop. 6,700) -- too much traffic
• Lakewood
• Solon -- poor looking area
• Bingham (pop. 860) -- poor looking area
• Moscow -- poor looking area
• Caratunk
• Pleasant Pond
• The Forks -- beautiful area
• West Forks
• Lake Parlin
