1891 city directory of Memphis, Shelby county, Tennessee by Dow with John Carey as a clerk for 'M's K.E. Grogan' [the first husband of Kate (Dowling) Carey was a Mr. Grogan]. It says John lived on the southwest corner of Spring and Walnut Streets which is where his grocery store was later located. This told of the death of John Carey. [D__0429]
