Utah has many large national parks. I had visited several in the past. This trip was for getting the rest of them.

Years ago I came to this park but only stopped at the entrance. It was at the end of a long day and I had underestimated how long it would take to drive to this park. Thus, couple of photos at the entrance and a note to self saying I need to return here someday.

This time I again missed seeing this park. I arrived at the east entrance and got in fairly easily. I began driving the all-switchbacked roads of the park to the main north-south canyon road that was about 12 miles to the west. WRONG!

I quickly got behind a greyhouse-type bus. It practically stops for every curve. Then, it stopped dead. We were at the back of a very large line that I later found out was because there is a one-way tunnel. And today, probably well over 10,000 people were visiting the park. No places to pull out to park. very slow getting to anywhere and I had only planned an hour for this park. So I made my way to the exit.

Like Glacier National Park, this park is now oh-for-two at me visiting it. Only way to see this park is to arrive half an hour before sunrise on a weekday in the fall or spring. Maybe someday! For now, it has beat out Yellowstone as my LEAST FAVORITE park.
