Fort Ontario is located here on the shore of Lake Ontario and just west of it is the Oswego Port where large cargo ships dock. Oswego is a rather small town and easy to get around. Canada is visible across the lake.

The fort was closed for the season (open only in summers) plus is undergoing rennovations (which was somewhat visible from the outside). The fort design is the five-point star shape with the high stone walls all around. Cool looking from the aerial photos on the website about the fort. The fort is part of a state park after the federal government turned it over to New York in the 1950's.

The Best Western hotel in town is a four-star hotel although I am uncertain what makes it earn that distinction. It does not look that fancy from the outside. I stayed next door in the two-star Quality Inn which was a fourth of the price of the Best Western.
