I came here to do some family history research. The ancestors in this area are as far back as I have gotten for that family line (tree branch). Plus, reportedly there is a cemetery somewhere in the area that bears a family surname. I took a drive on County Road 51 after turning off Highway 9W. I passed the Town Hall of New Baltimore. I ended up within the city limits of Hannacroix NY. I drove past the more well known cemetery of Stanton Hill (main family surnames in it are Meyer and Powell and Bedell). I eventually happened to see the Sarles Family (or Sarles Homestead) Cemetery. No sign marks it. There are maybe three dozen buried there but most headstones are so badly worn as to no longer be readable. I took photos of the ones that are at least somewhat readable. I also took photos of some of the surrounding area so as to indicate the location of the cemetery. It is near where Mt. Misery Rd. intersects County Road 51.

I also went looking for the nearby Sarles Lane. It intersects with Jennings Lane at one end and with County Road 51 at the other end. Only two buildings are on the short Sarles Lane and they are not really homes but more like barns.

The city library really only has a few useful reference books. All I learned is that the Sarles/Searles family was one of the early settlers to the county.
