This park in northwest California was on my original route down the west coast. In fact, some of it is actually ON the coast. I wanted to visit another national park on my way to visiting at least a hundred of them.

Since my route got changed due to striking the deer in southern Idaho, I stopped here while going between Crater Lake and Sacramento. While redwood trees are certainly impressive and really tall, they are not quite like the giant sequoias that I still need to see someday.

From the state line to Crescent City was all switchbacks while driving. I love driving them, as long as no one is in front of my. I can usually take the curves at 10 mph faster than what is posted.

California is pretty good about giving a passing lane on the two-lane mountain highways where some vehicles have a hard time moving thus slow down traffic. I also noticed that the gas stations in both Oregon and California are full-service, meaning, not self-serve pumping. An Oregon attendant said there is a state law against self-serve gas -- they only fill the tank but don't do windows or tires like in the old days.
