Like Rhode Island, I mainly needed to stayed a night here because a goal of mine is to spend at least one night in every U.S. state. I passed through Delaware in 1982 but never stopped. So this time I planned to stop.

There are no hotels in northern Delaware with reasonable rates. But I had to stay so in April I booked a room. However, there is really not much to see or do here either. So while on this trip I decided to cancel that reservation and make one in the capital of Dover (and get a photo of another state capitol). Plus the rate was half that of Wilmington's. And the town is much nicer. And it was a looong day that started in the dark on the other side of Manhattan so I even went against my normal rule of avoiding toll roads but it was only one dollar to get on at Wilmington and fifty cents to get off at Dover so I did it.

Of course, Delaware is the home of so many U.S. corporations, including the company I currently work for in Kansas City. I got a kick out of highway signs pointing traffic to the various highways and towns and to the Delaware beaches. Now how often do we hear of, or think of, beaches in Delaware.
