I like state capitals that are small cities. Montpelier. Carson City. Augusta. Dover fits that quite nicely. Getting near the state capitol building is simple with plenty of easy and free parking. It felt like it was a Sunday morning instead of a Tuesday afternoon. Nice. Some states choose to have a big city as the capital (Boston, St. Paul, Atlanta, Phoenix). Those cities make it more of a challenge for the tourist.

I like Dover. AND, for trivia fans, it is one of just five state (of the 48 states) capitals that is NOT on an interstate highway (Annapolis, Carson City, Jefferson City and Pierre the others).
