From the little I saw of it, Glacier National Park is incredibly beautiful. Probably equal to Yosemite. Apparently, because it is so far from most of the U.S., it is more underrated than many other parks. However, there were hundreds of people at the park the warm and sunny mid-September day I was there. And that, despite the warnings at the park entrances telling of four-hour delays getting through the road construction around Logan Pass. Once impatient me heard about that length of a delay (I get impatient waiting three minutes in a line at the store or bank!!!), I chose to go in only part of the way into the park, then turn around. But, oh, what I saw and captured on camera! I want to go back again someday to make the full run of the Going-to-the-Sun Road -- when the construction is done, of course.

I was in the visitors center at the southwest entrance (Apgar). The ranger there obviously LOVES to talk about the park. And he knows almost everything there is to know about the park. People waited in line to ask their specific question (and listen to what he was telling the persons in front of them). I listened as he explained the best places to hike for the day, where to see bear, where to see moose, where to fish, eat, sleep, park, drive, etc. It was quickly obvious that this ranger loved the park and loved talking to others about it. He was in his element.

The highway form Missoula to Glacier had much construction on it. The drive took about a third longer than I planned. I was surprised at how big Kalispell seems. The town is quite spread out and have very wide main streets through it. Many large stores, including big name chains, are in town.
