Jackman (pop. 800) is in the extreme northwest part of Maine just a few miles from the Canadian border on highway 201. The area is made up of mountains and trees. Only the one main highway runs through it north-south and one going east.

Along the route to Jackman we saw scattered patches of snow. These patches were in the shaded lower lying areas.
