I was glad to get to visit this park and its beautiful (that sooo understates it) scenery. The stony peaks look somewhat like the Tetons in Wyoming. National Parks is one of the best, if not THE Best, ideas this country ever had.

We spent the night somewhere in the park (but nine years later neither Sherry nor I recall which place and cannot find any receipts or credit card bills for it). From what I recall it was some type of cabin, but I could be confusing it with another trip.

The drive back to San Francisco was fun. We took a different route than getting there. It was some desolate road along the route. And it had some switchback mountainside road, which I just LOVE driving as long as no one is poking along in front of me. I recall getting to San Jose going east to west and we looked way down onto the city as we came down from the elevation. Great view. Ah, to live with that scenery every day from a home window......sigh!
