I had to visit this place just southeast of Flagstaff in the central part of the upper part of the state. A number of people had commented about what a great place it is. If you are the type of person who loves touristy resort type towns and love to shop and eat, then this town is for you. Several upscale hotels are in this out-in-the-middle-of-nowhere town (ie. the interstate does not go through it) and is surrounded by mountains.

I enjoyed the curvy mountainous highway leading to the town. If I had a good way to mount my camera on the dash to record (in mini-movie mode) the drive, it would have made a really cool mini-movie. A number of sharp curves along drop-off cliffs abound. My kind of road.

Several state parks and other monuments are nearby for visiting. Others had recommended them to me, particularly Slide Rock State Park. A really neat lodge/resort just north of the park is called Junipine Resort and Cafe (I stopped there to ask for directions. Yes, men do that once in a while!!!). It would be a fun place to spend the day/night. Next time.

I stopped long enough in Sedona to observe what made up this town. Then I headed back to interstate I-17.
