1850 census for Jefferson county West Virginia [then still a part of Virginia] Samuel Melvin age 57 born VA farmer, wife Blanche age 57 b.VA, David O. age 23 [or 73?] b.VA, Thomas [middle initial maybe 'F' but likely not a 'K'] age 19 b.VA [if only he were age 28], Samuel age 14 b.VA. IF the age of this Thomas truly is just 19 in 1850 [thus, born 1831], then this eliminates the Samuel Melvin, whose name also appears on the 1830 and 1840 censuses with a male whose age was in the range of ancestor Thomas, as the father of ancestor Thomas Melvin.
