Portrait of Edwin James Searls. It was originally taken sometime around 1915 and was used as part of the article written about his retirement from the railroad. It was later used in his obituary that appeared in the Akron, Plymouth county, Iowa newspaper. An entire page of the newspaper was devoted to his death since many people were unable to attend due to a heavy snowstorm.
