Death Record in Wheelock, Caledonia county, Vermont for Benjamin Carter that died at age 50 in 1814 [thus born about 1864] and buried in the Wheelock Village Cemetery. Mo relatives given. However, on the backside it says "War of the American Revolution a private in Capt. Laugdon's Co. of Light Horse N.H. Volunteers. Enrolled August 6, 1778. War of 1812 in [sic] private in Capt. Woodworth's Company of Plattsburg Volunteers enrolled Sept. 8, 1814" [two months before he died!]. Bronze tablet on tombstone with above inscription.
