List of the military records of Washington county Illinois includes William Buhr. It says he was a farmer from Raineyburg, was 5'11" tall, light hair, blue eyes, fair complexion, born in Washington county. He served in the Illinois Company I of the 80th Infantry. He enlisted on Aug.01, 1862 in Raineysburg, mustered in as a private on Aug.25, 1862 in Centralia (located in three counties), later promoted to corporal, mustered out on Jun.10, 1865 at Camp Harker in Tennessee.
