He was the half-brother of ancestor Thomas Ufford, their double ancestor father was Robert de Ufford (de Payton), Justiciar of Ireland but born and died in England. Robert's mother was Mary, the second wife of their father, and Thomas's mother was Joan, the third wife of their father. This line goes back several generations into the 900's.
