Francis may have been the son of John Whitmore. John was from Stamford Connecticut. In 1638 he was in Wethersfield Connecticut. He was killed by Indians in 1648. He had a son John plus possibly four others: Thomas born 1615, Ann born ?1621 married 02-16-1644 George Farrar, Mary born ?1623 married 10-23-1647 John Brewer, Francis born 1625 [same as above ancestor Francis], of Cambridge, and, John born ?1627 in Stamford Connecticut in 1650. 
John, the fourth child of Thomas and Hannah Whitmore, was of Charlestown. He m1.Mary Upham, daughter of John and Elizabeth of Malden. He m2.Mary  ? . Formerly church members in Yarmouth, son Daniel, 15th child, bapt.1691 in Watertown, lived in Mistick (later the town of Medford).
