Research ,
John's father may have been John Moore born ?1570 Thaxted (Essex) England. England and died 08-27-1679, wife's name unknown. His paternal grandparents may have been John Moore and Joan Humphrey. Much confusion has risen from John's wife or wives named Elizabeth as well as how many children he had by either. Some sources say that John only had one wife instead of two. Some say that he was married to Elizabeth Whale. No sources say that he was only married to Elizabeth Rice, the step- daughter of Philemon Whale. As for John's wife being the Elizabeth Whale, the daughter of Philemon Whale: Philemon's daughter Elizabeth was born about the time (1620-1625) that John was first married. Philemon later married Elizabeth (Rice) Moore's mother, Elizabeth (Frost) Rice after her husband Henry died. In his will of 1675, Philemon mentions John Moore's sons Jacob, Joseph and Benjamin, calling them the sons of of his daughter Elizabeth though she was more likely to be his daughter-in-law. Elizabeth (Frost) Rice was the sister of Thomasine (Frost) Rice, the wife of Edmund Rice. Edmund and Henry were brothers. Henry Rice, the son-in-law of John Moore, was the son of Edmund and Thomazine. There is also some confusion as to whether John had one or two daughters named Elizabeth. Only one is mentioned in his will as was referred to as his "eldest daughter, the wife of Henry Rice". Many sources do not mention John's children Susan, Anna and Richard. According to the book "Passenger and Immigration Lists Index", John, about age 24, came from England to Massachusetts around 1635 on the ship "Planters". As it's sources, it listed as follows: Psngr list, Banks, Plntrs [in italics], 141[] Hudson,p.51. A John Moore, no age given, on the ship "Mary and John" arrived at In 1635 a John Moore, age 41, came on the ship "Susan and Ellen", Edward Payne the master. This may be our John Moore. John was the immigrant ancestor for a large number of families in Middlesex and Worcester counties in Massachusetts as well as in Connecticut and Maine.
