William de Chadwyk of Chadwick in Rochdale, county Lancashire, born ca.1355 and was called "Senior" in 1413 since had a son William. Other Chadwicks:
Jordan younger brother of Henry was the second son of John and married Elianore Kyrkeshore of Hundersfeld daughter of Christopher. John son of Jordan married Alice Okeden daughter of Adam. Thomas son of John lived at Heley. Robert, grandson of Thomas, lived in Heley/Healy. John, son of Robert, married Catherine and was a colonel, her mother was Mary Bagot of Colton and daughter of Anthony.
Charles Chadwick was the first to settle in New England, freeman 1631-05-18 in Watertown. He was a town officer and deputy of the general court, died 1682-04-10 age 68 and bequeathed to his wife Elizabeth who died 1685-02-22.
John Chadwick Sr. was in Malden in 1648, his will dated 1680-12-01 and proved 1681-05-04 and he devused to sons John, James and Samuel and to daughter Hannah and her three married daughters.
There is more information about the Chadwicks of England and New England found in the book of the Chadwick family. Sometimes it is confusing in the way the author tells of the relationships between the various family members.
Thomas Chadwick, kinsman of Charles Chadwick, mentioned in his will, was probably a nephew. That will proves that all the New England Chadwicks are related. A branch of the family also settled in New Jersey, perhaps not closely related to those of New England. Thomas was born in 1655, and settled early at Newbury, Massachusetts, but removed to Watertown in 1679. He married, April 6, 1674-75, Sarah Walcott. Children, born at Newbury:
1. Sarah, Oct. 3, 1675.
2. Thomas, 1677. Children born at Watertown:
3. John, Nov. 20, 1680.
4. Elizabeth, Oct. 31, 1682; died aged twelve.
5. Lydia, March 22, 1685; died aged nine.
6. Richard, April 20, 1687.
7. Daniel, Jan. 20, 1689.
8. Jonathan, April 4, 1691.
9. Elizabeth, Oct. 14, 1695.
Per Find-a-Grave, John Chadwick II b.1676 in Malden (Essex) MA and died 1755-02-16 in West Boxford (Essex) MA was buried in Mount Vernon Cemetery. He was the son of John and Mary. All looked like it fits the ancestor until the mother was listed as Mary instead of Sarah.
Per Find-a-Grave, John Chadwick Sr. b.1601-04-10 n Blackburn, Blackburn with Darwen Unitary Authority in Lancashire and died 1681- 04-__ in Malden (Middlesex) MA.
Per Massachusetts Town and Vital Records 1620-1988, John Chardwick (extra letter 'r') married Mehitable Haseltine in Boxford (Essex) MA. These people are also noted on Ancestry.com.
