He had a total of 17 or 18 children by three wives, unknown how many by each wife. However, Simon did not have any children by his second wife, Elizabeth.

Simon was one of the most conspicuous and honored men of his day. He was wealthy and a very large landholder, most of which he gave to his children late in his life.
