General

From the Wilson family bible, births of Matthew Meredith Wilson (05-12-1810), his wife Keziah (Hildebrand) Wilson (10-25-1816), and their children: Hannah Mary (11-16-1837), William Mayer (03-12-1839), John Hildebrand (01-19-1841, Mathew Durbin (03-12-1843), Evaline Shultz (03-06-1845), Edwin Lawrence (06-06-1846), Charles Herbert (06-08-1848), Albert Eberman (06-05-1850), Rebecca Ann (07-21-1855) and Robert Stitt (09-16-1856). All are written in the same handwriting, probably Keziah's since her name is listed first. This handwriting matches the one listing her marriage on another page. This page was one of four such pages in the Wilson family bible. From the Wilson family bible, births of the members of the Robert Stitt Wilson family: Robert Stitt Wilson Sep.13, 1856 [or Sep.15, 1856 both of which differ from the Sep.16, 1856 on another page] in Zanesville Ohio; Ida Melvin Jan.12, 1862 in Cedarville, Ohio; Matthew Meredith Wilson Jan.20, 1886 in Xenia, Ohio; Thomas Melvin Wilson May 13, 1888 in Zanesville, Ohio; Albert Chew Wilson Jun.24, 1891 in Kansas City, Jackson county, Missouri [sic, Zanesville]; Janie Wilson Aug.22, 1893 in Kansas City, Jackson county, Missouri; Edwin Lawrence Wilson Nov.22, 1895 in Kansas City, Jackson county, Missouri; and, Celia Wilson Jan.22, 1900 in Kansas City, Jackson county, Missouri. Two handwritings and two colors of ink appear on this page. All through Thomas Melvin Wilson were done by one person with one color ink. All others were done by a second person in another color of ink. This page was one of four found in the Wilson family bible.

Robert died less than two months after his oldest brother William.

OLDER SIBLINGS: Five of his nine brothers and sisters were deceased by the time Robert moved to Kansas City. A Xenia Daily Gazette article dated May 19, 1890 tells of Ida (Melvin) Wilson and two of her children leaving Xenia that evening to join her husband in Kansas City where their new home will be.

Research ,

RESIDENCE TOWNS: The towns where Robert and Ida lived between 1886 and 1891 sometimes gets confused. They were listed in various sources as living in Xenia and Zanesville. Sometime during this period, they may have lived with Ida's father Thomas who died in 1890 in Xenia.
MOVING TO KANSAS CITY: Why did Robert and Ida move to Ohio (they might have been living with her parents in Xenia), then on to Kansas City?
WILSON FAMILY BIBLE: How did Robert end up with the Wilson family bible, him being the youngest of ten children? Maybe it is because most of Robert's siblings were deceased. He could have taken the family bible from his parents' home when he moved to Kansas City.
