The Kansas Statehouse in Topeka which has served as the capital since Kansas became a state in 1861. This is only the second building to serve as the state Capitol. The 304 ft. dome is taller than the 288 ft. U.S. Capitol dome although its 50 ft. diameter is approximately half the national capitol's 96 ft. The Kansas Statehouse is one of the few U.S. capitols that continues to offer tours that go to the top of the dome.
